Our Story
About Senior Social

Created from a deeply personal place.

Senior Social was born from love, loss, and a desire to raise the standard of care for seniors.

After witnessing my own mother's experience during illness, I saw firsthand the gaps that exist in senior care. While her basic needs were met, something essential was missing. Genuine companionship, consistent support, and a sense of dignity in everyday living.

It became clear that many seniors are left without the level of presence and attention they truly deserve. That experience became the foundation for Senior Social.

Our mission is to provide more than just assistance. We offer a refined, thoughtful companionship experience designed to enhance quality of life. We believe care should feel personal, not procedural. Intentional, not rushed.

From meaningful visits and engaging conversation to transportation and light support around the home, every service is delivered with warmth, discretion, and respect.

Because true care isn't just about being there. It's about how you show up.

Our Services

Four pillars of thoughtful support.

Everything we do is designed around one idea: that seniors deserve to feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for in their daily lives.

01 Companionship

Weekly visits your mom actually looks forward to.

Real conversation, shared interests, and outings designed around your loved one, not a clipboard. The same familiar face each week, patient presence, and the small kindnesses that make someone feel seen.

  • Genuine conversation and shared interests
  • Reading, puzzles, walks, light music
  • Social outings and community events
  • The same consistent caregiver, never rotating

02 Transportation

Rides door-to-door. Waited with, walked back in.

Not a drop-off service. We drive them, wait through the appointment, help them back to the car, and make sure they're settled at home. The kind of ride you'd give your own parent.

  • Medical appointments & hospital discharges
  • Social visits, events, and family gatherings
  • Shopping, errands, and leisure outings
  • We wait, we assist, we bring them home safely

03 Errands & Groceries

Saturday errands, groceries, and the in-betweens.

The small-but-essential stuff that adds up: prescriptions, groceries, dry cleaning, returns. Handled reliably so the week doesn't feel like a pile of chores waiting.

  • Grocery shopping & prescription pickups
  • Dry cleaning, postal errands, returns
  • Light meal prep and kitchen setup
  • Anything that lightens the weekly load

04 Light Housekeeping

A tidy home, without the ask.

The quiet tasks that make a home feel calm and lived-in. Tidying, laundry folding, mail sorting, kitchen reset. So your loved one can focus on what they enjoy, not what's piling up.

  • Light tidying and folding laundry
  • Mail sorting and simple organization
  • Kitchen and living area reset
  • Anything that helps the home feel easier

03

Individuals Adjusting After a Move

For seniors settling into a new home or routine. A steady, familiar presence to help the transition feel less like an ending and more like a new chapter.

Why Senior Social

Not like other agencies. On purpose.

Senior care in the GTA is crowded with franchises that feel the same: corporate call trees, rotating caregivers, and contracts you can't get out of. Here's where we split from the pack.

Find Your Match
“Care should feel personal, not procedural. Intentional, not rushed.”
Rachel Breen Founder · Senior Social
01

Local & founder-led.

Most agencies: 650-office franchises with corporate phone trees. Senior Social: Founded and run by Rachel. She picks up the phone and she meets every family.

02

Companionship-first, not medical-adjacent.

Most agencies: Home care with companionship bolted on as an upsell. Senior Social: Companionship is the product. A standing visit your loved one actually looks forward to.

03

No lock-ins, no minimum hours.

Most agencies: Long contracts, minimum weekly hours, cancellation fees. Senior Social: Pay for what you use. Start with one visit. Scale up or down as life shifts.

04

The same familiar face, every time.

Most agencies: Rotating caregivers every week. Your parent re-introduces themselves each visit. Senior Social: One consistent companion. Real relationship, built over time.

Safeguards & Screening

How we earn the trust of letting us in the door.

Inviting someone into your parent's home is a serious decision. Every person on the Senior Social team is vetted through the same careful process, before they ever meet a family.

01

Vulnerable Sector Check

Every caregiver completes a Vulnerable Sector Check, the enhanced police screening required in Canada for anyone working with seniors and other vulnerable groups.

02

Reference-Verified

We speak directly to prior employers and personal references. No shortcuts, no assumptions, and no "applied yesterday, working tomorrow."

03

Signed Confidentiality Agreement

Every team member signs a confidentiality agreement covering your family's personal details, home, and health information. What's shared with us stays with us.

04

Trained Through Our Program

All of our caregivers are trained, screened, and certified through our internal Senior Social program, with a strong focus on companionship and client experience.

Want to see a specific document? We're happy to share a caregiver's screening certifications with you during your consultation.
